Privacy Policy
How Moto Health collects, uses and protects your personal data.
1. Introduction
Moto Health ('we', 'us', 'our') is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect information when you use the Moto Health mobile application, website and related services ('Services').
By using our Services, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App and on our website.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information: name, phone number, email address, date of birth, gender, emergency contact details, and any health or mobility information you choose to provide.
Location data: with your permission, we collect precise location data from your device, including real-time GPS coordinates while the App is in use and, where enabled, background location data while an active transfer is in progress.
Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs, and information about how you interact with the App.
Communications: messages, calls, support requests and feedback you send through the App or to our support team.
Payment information: transaction details, mobile-money or card information processed by our payment partners. We do not store full card details.
3. How we use location data
To identify your current location so you can set a pick-up point quickly and accurately.
To match you with an available Driver and to calculate routes, distances, estimated arrival times and fares.
To allow Drivers to navigate to your pick-up location and destination.
To monitor active transfers for safety, quality assurance and customer support.
To share your trip location with emergency contacts you have authorised in the App, while a trip is active.
To comply with legal, regulatory and insurance requirements.
4. Legal basis for processing
Performance of a contract: processing necessary to provide the transport-matching service you requested.
Consent: where required by law, we obtain your explicit consent before collecting sensitive data (such as health information) or enabling background location tracking.
Legitimate interests: to improve our Services, ensure safety, prevent fraud and support our business operations.
Legal obligation: to comply with applicable Kenyan laws, court orders, or requests from authorised authorities.
5. How we share your information
Drivers: we share your name, phone number, pick-up and destination addresses, and real-time trip location with the Driver assigned to your transfer so they can complete the service.
Hospitals and medical facilities: we may share trip-related information with the hospital or facility involved in your transfer where necessary to coordinate care.
Emergency contacts: if you enable location sharing, your live trip location may be shared with the emergency contacts you designate.
Service providers: we use trusted third parties for hosting, mapping (Mapbox), payments, analytics, push notifications and customer support. They may process data only on our behalf and under contractual protection.
Legal and safety purposes: we may disclose information to comply with legal obligations, respond to emergencies, or protect our rights, users or the public.
6. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services.
Trip and location history is retained for safety, dispute resolution, insurance and legal compliance purposes, generally for the period required by applicable law.
You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time through the App or our data-deletion page, subject to legal retention requirements.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, update or delete your personal information.
You can withdraw consent for optional data processing (such as background location or marketing communications) at any time in your device or App settings.
You may request a copy of your data or object to certain processing by contacting us using the details below.
We will respond to data-rights requests in accordance with Kenyan data-protection law.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure.
Despite our safeguards, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and keep your device secure.
9. Children's privacy
The Services are not intended for children under 18 years of age (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate parental or guardian consent. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us.
10. International transfers
Your data is primarily stored and processed in Kenya. Some service providers may process data outside Kenya. When this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
